Dominic Ponniah, CEO:
“I am proud to be leading our dedicated and passionate team. The ‘Cleanology family’ is much larger today than 25 years ago, but we have ensured our original philosophy has not changed: providing quality, service and value. We will always be able to deliver exactly what we promise, because we do not over-promise.”

How we started…
Cleanology was founded by Elisabeth Ponniah in 1999. What started as a small, family-run business with one client and one cleaner, has grown into a Top 50 UK cleaning company with over 1,400 staff from 34 countries. In 2004, Elisabeth’s son, Dominic Ponniah took over as CEO.

How it's going..
Though the company has grown considerably, Cleanology still maintains its family values and commitment to quality and customer care. With offices in both London and Wigan, Cleanology has expanded to over 400 prestigious customers throughout the UK.
Cleanology has a longstanding, multi-award-winning approach to sustainability. This passion and long-term commitment has been recognised by our industry peers, most notably in our winning the Golden Service Awards’ environmental category for three consecutive awards (2018, 2020 and 2022) and more recently Sustainable Best Practice at the 2023 European Cleaning & Hygiene Awards and the ESG and Social Impact Award at the Scale-Up Awards 2024.
Highlighting the success of our in-house Hospitality Hero training initiative, 3 team members were recently recognised at industry awards. Valentim Alvarez received a commended certificate at the Cleaning Excellence Awards 2023, Maria Vinau won Cleaning Operative of the Year at the Hill Club Awards 2023 and Bella Carmina Cedeno Fuentes won Supervisor of the Year at the Hill Club Awards 2024.
How we will continue…
We believe that valued staff perform better, and we place great significance on the ways we reward and recognise staff. Cleanology has long understood the value of fair pay, with along standing commitment to paying staff the Real Living Wage. In 2021 we won the Living Wage Foundation Champion Award and in 2024 our CEO Dominic Ponniah became joint chair of The Living Wage Foundation’s Recognised Service Provider Leadership Group.
We have partnered with The Hygiene Bank charity to help tackle hygiene poverty, an issue which affects 4.2m people in the UK. Through events, volunteering, and raising awareness of the cause, we have raised £117,000 for The Hygiene Bank to date. Cleanology has recently been awarded the highly coveted Gold Partnership status by the Hygiene Bank. The prestigious Gold Partnership status, held only by household names Boots, Unilever and Method, highlights Cleanology’s tireless commitment to help end hygiene poverty through financial support, product donations and raising awareness.
